Meet Katherine Henderson, Top 25 Women of Influence+ Award Recipient

Reshaping one of Canada’s most storied institutions, Katherine is transforming hockey into a force for inclusion and equity—championing women’s and para hockey while redefining the game’s culture to reflect the country’s diverse future.

Katherine Henderson was named President and CEO of Hockey Canada on July 4, 2023. As the co-chair of the Winter Caucus of Sport, her first event with Hockey Canada was the inaugural Beyond the Boards Summit. This summit brought together leaders in hockey, subject-matter experts, and individuals with lived experiences to identify actionable steps for creating positive cultural changes within the sport.

Prior to joining Hockey Canada, Henderson served as the CEO of Curling Canada, where she led initiatives to introduce new Canadians to the sport, spearheaded pay equity for Canada’s men’s and women’s curling teams, and drove a financial turnaround of the organization’s business model.

Henderson’s career also includes roles as the Senior Vice-President of Marketing and Revenue for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Organizing Committee, as well as progressive marketing and branding roles with Whirlpool Corporation, Colgate Palmolive Canada, Campbell Soup Canada and General Mills Canada.

A leader in the greater sport community, Henderson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from Western University, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and a master’s degree in Theological Studies from the University of Toronto.
