Meet Angele Miller, RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards Start-Up Finalist

From the start, Angele dreamt beyond the borders of the small-town Cocagne where she grew up. Angele’s first business came to fruition at the age of 20 when she opened a health food store and pioneered the movement of organic eating and natural healing in her area in New Brunswick. Angele is very passionate about health, wellness and travel. After travelling for many years with her husband Dan, Angele took some of her best travel experiences combined with her wellness passion to build and create a resort in her seaside hometown like no other. Creekside RnR is now the recipient for the Tourism New Brunswick partnership award and the Best Glamping in New Brunswick People Choice award by New Brunswick Excellence.  Angele shares this life with her family — her husband Dan and their daughter Anabelle. Angele is also the founder of Abundant by Design, Inca Glow and Inca Glow Salon & Glow Out bar franchises soon to be featured on Dragons Den. Angele also sits on many boards including Women in Business New Brunswick and continues to look at expanding and growing her businesses.

I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur when… I realized I was more interested in working away at creating new projects, new ideas, and innovation instead of doing a lot of other fun things with friends and family. I’ve been passionate about building and creating business since I’ve been as little as I can remember.

Entrepreneurship is made for me because… I’m driven, ambitious, committed to creating and building great things in life, and passionate about helping others do the same. I live and breathe entrepreneurship day in and out.

The impact I hope to make through my work is… to create an amazing destination and resort within my community and to empower other women to do the same and lead their dreams with passion.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned on my entrepreneurial journey is… when you push forward and it seems like nothing goes right it’s a sign to lay back a little and take it as a lesson to learn why and what it is trying to teach you While doing this I have always been able to bring the right people and partnerships into place at the right time. It’s not easy but lessons learned that sometimes for me become a great blessing and I continue to live and practice this principle daily in my business life today.

My proudest accomplishment is… stepping out of my comfort zone and speaking in front of thousands of people. I had been holding opportunities back due to being afraid of public speaking and now one of my passions is doing public speaking engagements. I’m proud of myself for not letting fear control my destiny.

The biggest risk I took that paid off was… to invest and build a resort in the midst of covid starting March 2020 with things being very unknown and committed to making things work regardless of circumstances. It was a big investment risk that ended up in the best decision I could have made which led to be perfect timing for me to do this.

My biggest setback has been… not always having things come as fast as I want in specific venues, projects, or co-partnerships in my business.

I overcame it by… not sweating the small stuff and taking it as a sign to let things evolve as they are meant to be with the right people and it always does. As long as I keep moving forward and persisting in my work, the right opportunities and things will come into place in due time.

The best advice I’ve received as an entrepreneur was… to never keep your head down as you fall, fail or make a bad decision but to keep looking up, taking a step forward as these lessons will make me stronger with time to be able to do bigger and better things in the future.

I surprise people when I tell them… I also own a few other companies that are also very successful businesses while being a mom, and wife and my involvement in the business community.

If I had an extra hour in the day, I would use it to… relax, meditate, and enjoy my time with my family.

If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… that in the midst of building and working my business, I still take the time to cook (I love cooking homemade meals in my kitchen), do gardening, I’m married, and have a daughter and two dogs that keep me very busy all while building and expanding my business.

The future excites me because… the possibilities and opportunities are endless. That means I get to create and build more wonderful things for people to enjoy, and hopefully make a difference in my community and in the world.

Keep up with Angele by connecting with her on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.
