Meet Roz Tamblyn, Designer and Owner of Roz + Loki

Roz Tamblyn spent most of her adult life in a corporate environment, where she struggled with finding the perfect dress shirt — one that was perspiration-proof, didn’t gape at the bust, and allowed enough range of motion — all while still being chic and professional. Unable to find an alternative, in 2016 she launched her own line of women’s dress shirts, roz + loki. Blending ultra-luxe Parisian fabric and the functionality of a thoughtfully crafted dress shirt, she has simplified professional women’s workwear by offering a staple piece that truly does it all.

My first job ever was… At Japan Camera.

I chose to start my own business because… I wanted to have the flexibility of being in control of my day (for the most part!)

My proudest accomplishment is… Creating what I believe to be “the perfect dress shirt”.

My boldest move to date was… Undertaking a 2-storey addition to my bungalow on my own while working full-time.

I surprise people when I tell them… I am an introvert at heart.

My best advice to people starting a business is… Ignore the voices in your head telling you that you don’t have what it takes to succeed.

“Ignore the voices in your head telling you that you don’t have what it takes to succeed.”

My best advice from a mentor was… Listen to your gut.

I would tell my 20-year old self… That being a rebel is not going to get you anywhere fast.

My biggest setback was… Having to quit University after year one.

I overcame it by… Taking the time to mature before going back to school.

Work/life balance is… Always a struggle, but I find getting out of the city sure helps.

Being my own boss is… Great and scary all at the same time.

If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… That I love to wakeboard.

I stay inspired by… The beauty of cottage country and the unconditional love I get from my dog.

The future excites me because… I am excited to come up with many more dress shirt designs in different fabrics and colours.

My next step is… Short sleeved dress shirts.
