Co-CEO Leadership Team Takes the Helm of Women of Influence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

President and CEO Carolyn Lawrence joins Deloitte to spearhead groundbreaking work in gender diversity and inclusion

TORONTO, October 26, 2015 –
Women of Influence announced today that its president and CEO, Carolyn Lawrence, will be taking a leadership role at Deloitte to spearhead groundbreaking work in gender diversity and inclusion. The business will continue under the new leadership of Alicia Skalin (formerly VP Events & Marketing) and Stephania Varalli (formerly VP Content). This move reflects the company’s mandate to champion emerging leaders to reach their full potential.

“As co-CEOs we plan to drive the company’s mandate of advancing professional women globally,” explains Alicia Skalin, co-CEO, Women of Influence. “I am proud to lead this esteemed organization that has helped women connect, advance, and prepare to lead for over two decades. I am also excited to partner with Stephania and take Women of Influence to new heights.”

While increasing its focus on building a robust digital media platform and social media footprint, Women of Influence will continue to offer high-caliber events, executive development courses, and a semi-annual magazine.

“Our primary goal is to expand our reach so that we can have an even greater impact on women’s professional advancement across the country and around the world,” explains Stephania Varalli, co-CEO. “Building on the strong platform that Carolyn created, and with each of us bringing unique and complimentary leadership skills and expertise to the table, we are set up for success.”

“After proudly leading Women of Influence for the past decade, this is a bittersweet moment,” explains Lawrence. “However, I know I have placed the brand in very capable hands and I’m excited to see where Alicia and Stephania take it. At Deloitte, I will have the opportunity to continue my passion for advancing women into the senior executive ranks of business by focusing on helping companies attract and retain female talent, an imperative in today’s economic and corporate environment.”

Carolyn will be joining Deloitte Canada’s Consulting practice as Leader in Gender Diversity and Inclusion.

“We are thrilled that Carolyn will be joining our team,” said Heather Stockton, leader of the Human Capital practice at Deloitte. “Not only do we have a shared vision of promoting and supporting business leaders in creating an inclusive workplace from the boardroom to the front-line, we also share the passion of enhancing inclusion and diversity at every level of an organization. Many organizations have diversity in their policy documents, but they often struggle to bring those values to life. By working together, we’ll be better positioned to help our firm and its clients implement inclusion and diversity strategies, develop female leaders, and reap the rewards of a more gender diverse workforce.”
