Meet Rachel Myers, a Musician, Stylist, and WOI+ Team Member

She leverages her creativity and entrepreneurial mindset to bring immense value to her role

Meet Rachel Myers, an artist, stylist, musician, and member of the Women of Influence+ (WOI+) team. As a recent Berklee College of Music graduate, Rachel started writing music at 11 years old, and to date, she has headlined with live bands at venues including the Poetry Jazz Cafe, Lee’s Palace, CAA Theatre, and The Great Hall among others.

During the pandemic, Rachel launched IKON by Rae Fawn, a sustainable, hand-painted clothing brand that merged her business acumen with her artistic style. At WOI+, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to channel her creative, entrepreneurial, and organizational skills at an organization that enriches the lives of women and gender-diverse folks and fosters a community of support.

My first job ever was… hostessing at an oyster restaurant.

My favourite thing about working for Women of Influence+ is… the variety of work. Every day is different, and I wake up excited about what’s to come!

I’m passionate about what I do because… of all the like-minded people I work with. It’s empowering to be in a world of smart, inspiring, successful women.

I entered my field because… I have so many fields of work! I gravitate towards work that is creative, inspiring, and makes a difference in other people’s lives.

One of the most important things I’ve learned about myself so far is… to stop doubting myself and to be proud of my capabilities.

My proudest accomplishment was… getting into Berklee College of Music. After high school, I took a gamble and only applied to one college. Thankfully, it paid off big time.

My biggest setback was… having my graduation year cut short and having to leave my life in Boston to come home when the pandemic hit. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye, reach my goals, or walk in my graduation ceremony. Everything was transferred online and it was very isolating.

I overcame it by… staying positive, keeping myself busy, painting, and writing a ton of music.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… not everyone is going to like you — and that’s okay.

The one piece of advice I give that I have trouble following myself is… trust your gut.

I surprise people when I tell them… I was almost on The Voice in 2014.

If I had an extra hour in the day, I would… remember to call my grandma.

At the end of the day, I unwind by… watching terrible reality TV.

If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… that I have written and co-written over 200 songs.

I stay inspired by… the people around me, knowing everyone is on a unique journey following their own path and passion.

The future excites me because… of the endless possibilities.
