Meet Sarah Herscheid, RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards Start-Up Finalist

Sarah Herscheid, founder and CEO of Signé Sarah, is a 2025 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards finalist and a leader transforming the hosiery and fashion industries.

Since launching her Montréal-based brand in 2020, Sarah has scaled Signé Sarah to over 450 retail points of sale, including major partners like Simons, Jean Coutu, and Brunet. She is on a mission to make durable, stylish, and inclusive tights the new standard, combining comfort, quality, and sustainability in every product. Her innovative approach challenges industry norms and offers women an alternative to disposable fashion.

Meet Sarah and discover how she’s creating lasting change in the fashion industry, one pair of tights at a time.

I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur when…

I realized how frustrated women (myself included) were with wasting money on disposable tights that constantly rip, leaving you in embarrassing situations. That gap in the market sparked an urgent pull in me to create a durable and accessible solution.

Entrepreneurship is made for me because……

I thrive in solving problems creatively and persistently. I’m fueled by challenges and motivated by making our high-quality products accessible to all.

The impact I hope to make through my work is…

Reducing textile waste by replacing disposable tights with durable, affordable ones. I also want to inspire women entrepreneurs to dream boldly and act quickly.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned on my entrepreneurial journey is…

Resilience matters more than perfection. Every setback is an opportunity to adjust, learn, and grow.

My proudest accomplishment is…

Growing Signé Sarah from 40 to over 450 retail points of sale in 4 months, while maintaining brand integrity and our mission of sustainability and accessibility at the core.

The biggest risk I took that paid off was…

Investing in large-scale retail partnerships early on, before I felt “ready.” It forced us to level up quickly, and it worked.

My biggest setback has been…

Not planning inventory well enough during early periods of rapid growth. At times, our bestsellers were out of stock just when demand was peaking.

I overcame it by…

Learning the hard way, and then strengthening our forecasting, improving supplier communication, and bootstrapping carefully to build solid cash flow. This allowed us to maintain stronger inventory levels and create a buffer, ensuring that our bestsellers remain available even during peak demand.

The best advice I’ve received as an entrepreneur was…

Say yes, then figure it out. Momentum creates opportunity, and you grow into it. There is only growth in discomfort.

I surprise people when I tell them…

That our tights are unbreakable!

If I had an extra hour in the day, I would use it to…

Spend more time outdoors with my son, grounding myself in family before the next big push.

If you Googled me, you still wouldn’t know…

That building a fashion brand hasn’t changed the fact that I still do school drop-offs in sneakers and messy hair.

The future excites me because…

Every pair of durable tights sold means fewer disposable ones in landfills, and that impact will only multiply.
