Meet Noura Sakkijha, Top 25 Women of Influence+ Award Recipient

Born in Jordan, Noura Sakkijha, Co-Founder and CEO of Mejuri, is the third generation in a family of jewelers, which exposed her to fine jewelry production techniques and design complexities from an early age. While she developed a love for fine jewelry, the traditional notion of men purchasing jewelry for women did not resonate with her. This led her to pursue a different path, studying industrial engineering at the University of Jordan. Noura later immigrated to Canada to earn her MBA at Toronto Metropolitan University, followed by a career in consulting at one of Toronto’s top financial institutions. 

Though she loved her job, fine jewelry was always on her mind. In 2015, Noura decided to leverage her industry knowledge and deep understanding of the supply chain to create Mejuri, a brand that has redefined the way individuals think of and purchase fine jewelry – for themselves. To date, Mejuri has amassed over 2 million customers and operates more than 40 stores across North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. 

One of Noura’s proudest accomplishments is the creation of the Mejuri Empowerment Fund in 2020. The fund has allocated over a million dollars in scholarships and bursaries to underrepresented women and non-binary individuals, providing them with the resources to succeed.

Under Noura’s leadership, Mejuri has grown globally, built on the foundational principles of empowerment, inclusivity and innovation. Her approach continues to make a positive impact on communities, the jewelry industry, and the world.
