Dr. Roberta K. Timothy

Assistant Professor, Black Health Lead at Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto

Roberta Timothy

With over 30 years’ experience working in community health, Dr. Roberta Timothy is an assistant professor at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health, and the school’s first Black Health Lead — a position she took on in July, 2021. Since then, she’s started work developing a Master of Public Health program in the field of Black Health, which will be the first of its kind in North America.

In the months prior, she was busy creating and leading the Black Health Matters COVID-19 Project, which aims to collect data on the impact of COVID-19 on African and Black communities and facilitate the creation of tools and interventions to provide them a better system of care. Launched at the end of December 2020, the project’s national and global surveys, focus groups, and National and Transnational Advisory Committees are helping to fill a gap in Black-led and resistance-centered health research — and there are still opportunities to add your voice.
