Meet Meghan Roach, the CEO leading the transformation of legacy Canadian retailer Roots into a company reflective of contemporary changes.

After being appointed as Roots’ interim CFO in August 2019, Meghan Roach stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer in January 2020. Just a few months later Meghan found herself leading one of Canada’s most iconic retailers through a global pandemic.

Immediate focus shifted to grappling with and mitigating the impact of nation-wide layoffs and 114 store closures, while also repurposing resources to provide PPE for those in need. In the months to follow, Meghan would navigate multiple lockdowns, and continually rework operations, inventory, and safety measures to meet the evolving retail environment.

Now, a year and a half into the role, Meghan is tasked with revolutionizing the iconic brand to succeed in a dramatically new retail environment. In addition, she’s taken this challenge as an opportunity to revitalize Roots’ strategy and company culture to reflect the shifting needs of employees and customers, and prioritize diversity and inclusion.

Join us on September 22nd for the Women of Influence Spotlight Series, in partnership with Smith School of Business, Queen’s University, as CTV’s Marcia MacMillan sits down with Meghan to discuss:

  • Innovating an iconic brand for future growth in a modern retail environment
  • Reinventing workplace culture to reflect modern realities of work-life balance
  • The vital practice of mentoring and retraining employees to improve employee retention and company dynamism
  • Developing new brand strategies that effectively engage with contemporary global issues
This is an incredible opportunity to tap into the journey to executive leadership and how to leverage your position to enact real change.
