Ginella Massa, CityNews Toronto

Two years ago, Ginella Massa became the first news reporter to wear a hijab on television. Last year she made even bigger headlines when, by filling in as the late anchor on CityNews Toronto, she became the first woman in hijab to ever anchor a major newscast in Canada.

The image — a vibrant, young Muslim woman on the evening news — sent waves throughout the country, as Ginella inspired a nation to recognize what true diversity looks like, and a generation of young women to be bolder, speak louder, and to make their presence known.

In the past year, Ginella has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, VICE Canada, The Washington Post, and allure. But how did she summon the courage, confidence, and conviction to take what is sure to become one of the most defining moves in her career?

Join us on September 6 for the season premiere of the Women of Influence Evening Series as we welcome the inspirational Ginella Massa to our stage, where she’ll discuss the key insights she’s picked up along her nascent yet massively impactful career. She’ll speak to:

  • Becoming a woman with a voice
  • How to silence self doubt and the doubt of others
  • Identifying career-defining opportunities
  • How to map out your path to success
  • Putting fear in the backseat and letting ambition guide you
