“Fast-forward to this week, when the news broke that Apple and Facebook will pay for their female employees to freeze their eggs. The reaction to the news was mixed and I’ll admit that it initially set of alarm bells in my head. Wouldn’t it just encourage women to postpone their desire for children? Could companies misuse this to encourage women to overwork during their most fertile years?

Maybe. But seriously folks, as intelligent professionals, we can make our own decisions about when we want to get knocked-up and this perk gives us options. Like the birth control pill helped set this stage for the sexual revolution, I’m hoping that this new company perk opens an intelligent dialogue about working women and fertility.”
