My first job ever was… Cashier at Canadian Tire. I met wonderful people there who shaped my life in a meaningful way.

I chose my career path because… I believe in possibilities!

My proudest accomplishment is… On a personal note, it would be my son, Kishan Jai. He is a toddler, and when I see him happy, expressive and being kind to others, it feels good. On a professional note, I gave myself a deadline to complete my PhD. At a few different points throughout the journey I was told that it would be impossible. I, along with my committee, made it possible and I am proud of that.

My boldest move to date was… having the courage to get out of my own way.

I surprise people when I tell them… I’m an introvert. I also surprise people when I don’t wear black!

My best advice to people starting their career is… to learn about others who inspire you, but follow your own path.

My best advice from a mentor was… Trust the timing of your life.

I would tell my 20-year old self… many things, but I probably wouldn’t have listened!

My biggest setback was… health-related.

I overcame it by… making self-care a priority, walking away from circumstances that were draining, and saying no to projects/meetings that weren’t aligned.

Work/life balance is… a moving target. It’s what works best for your circumstance and how you are defining it based on what you value at any given time.

If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… that I’ve always wanted to a dog (and still do!), and that I don’t know how to wink, but wish I did (I’ve practiced, but no luck!).

I stay inspired by… intentionally surrounding myself with brilliant people who are, above all, kind.

“I stay inspired by intentionally surrounding myself with brilliant people who are, above all, kind.”

The future excites me because… it’s unknown and a lot can happen in a short amount of time.

My next step is… to continue exploring, reading and writing more, and ensuring that I take the time to enjoy the special moments both personally and professionally.
