Meet Nichelle Laus, a former police officer turned transformational coach

Nichelle Laus boldly left a 15-year career as a police officer to pursue her passion for health and fitness. She is now a professional transformational coach and fitness expert for women. As a mother of four Nichelle has managed to build her own brand and open her own personal training centre, Optimum Training Centre.

My first job ever was… Hamburger flipper and cashier at Harvey’s restaurant.

I decided to be an entrepreneur because… I love helping people to my fullest capacity and love the flexibility it allows me to have with four children.

My proudest accomplishment is… My four children. They make me proud every day seeing them grow into the sweet, handsome, polite men that they are.

My boldest move to date was… Leaving my 15-year career as a Police Officer to open up my own personal training centre, Optimum Training Centre.

I surprise people when I tell them… I don’t plan things too much. I usually go with the flow, and take things day by day.

My best advice to people starting their career is…  It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

I would tell my 20-year-old self… To embrace, there is so much more to come!

My biggest setback was… Not being fully ready for the challenges that come with owning a business.

I overcame it by… Reaching out to mentors, listening to others success stories, and focusing on the positive instead of the negative.

Work/life balance is… Definitely possible when you have a great support system in place. Learning to multitask and be flexible with your time schedule also helps in keeping it balanced.

If you googled me, you still wouldn’t know… I was enrolled in the Canadian Army! It wasn’t for me and I asked to leave after just two days.

I stay inspired by… Knowing I am making a difference by motivating other women, clients, and moms. They keep me going!

The future excites me because… There is still so much that I want to do. The future holds opportunities and bigger goals that still need to be reached.

My next step is… Making my brand bigger so I can impact as many lives as possible through fitness, health, and wellness.
