In Celebration of International Women’s Day: 2013 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards Opens Call for Nominations

TORONTO – MARCH 8TH, 2013– In celebration of today, International Women’s Day, RBC and Women of Influence are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2013 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards (CWEA). These awards provide national recognition to Canada’s women entrepreneurs, whose successful businesses and achievements contribute so much to the Canadian and global economies, as well as to their communities.

“Through our long-standing partnership with Women of Influence, RBC is proud to honour and showcase successful women entrepreneurs across Canada,” said Kim Ulmer, vice president, Small Business, RBC. “Women entrepreneurs are an integral part of the Canadian economy and their stories and successes are nothing short of inspirational.   Come in and talk to an RBC Business Account manager today about nominating a female entrepreneur who inspires you.”

To date, over 10,000 women from their early 20s to their mid-eighties, from every sector of the economy, have been nominated for these awards. More than 100 Awards have been presented for outstanding entrepreneurial achievement. The following awards are presented; Deloitte Start-Up Award, Hub HKMB Impact Award, RBC Momentum Award, TPH, Sustainability Award, Trailblazer Award and PROFIT Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship.

With revenues ranging from $250,000 to over $500 million, there has been an increase in the number of female entrepreneurs succeeding in ‘non-traditional’ industries such as finance, film, construction, oil and gas, and transportation.

“Financially speaking, Canada needs more women entrepreneurs – to challenge the status quo, innovate new ways of doing things, and make our country better. The purpose of the Awards is to provide national recognition, and therefore a leg-up to Canada’s star women entrepreneurs,” said Carolyn Lawrence, President and CEO of Women of Influence Inc.
