About:
Women of Influence offers internships in each of the following departments: Events, Marketing and Fashion. The internships are a perfect fit for the young professional who is interested in garnering practical experience while applying technical knowledge. We look for people who understand the importance of being a member of a small team and who are prepared to take their contributions seriously. At Women of Influence we value our interns and take great strides to advance their creative and professional development. Where are the internship opportunities posted? How do I apply?
Internship openings are posted on the Womenofinfluence.ca Directory, on LinkedIn, or on TalentEgg.
The job posting will contain the appropriate contact and application information specific to the position available.
When are internships posted?
There are no set dates that internships are posted. Typically postings will align with one of our event seasons: January – June or July – December.
Do you offer summer internships?
Yes. We are always looking for fresh talent to add to our team whether you are on break from school or looking to jump-start your career.
How long is the typical internship?
Six months. We have found that an internship of six months’ duration allows for the greatest amount of professional development, as well as the opportunity to participate on a diverse range of projects/events.
I am very interested in interning at Women of Influence but there are no current openings. How else can I get involved?
There are many great ways to connect with Women of Influence should an internship position be currently unavailable. Are the internships full-time?
Not necessarily. If you are planning to apply for an internship at Women of Influence, you should be prepared to commit to a minimum of three (3) days per week. It has been our experience that this time commitment is required to receive the full benefits of the internship.
What are some of the day-to-day responsibilities of an intern?
Internship responsibilities will vary depending on one’s strengths, skill sets and areas of interest. Typically our interns support our Event Department on the preparation and execution of our event series, they have lead roles on social media initiatives and database management, and they assist the Creative Director of Women of Influence Magazine on a variety of photo shoots. Event and Fashion work can and will involve physical endurance such as heavy-lifting (25-30lbs) and long days on your feet.
Are there particular skill sets that you look for?
Above all else we look for someone with a great attitude, amazing customer service skills, strong work ethic and the confidence to ask for what they need in order to get the job done. A professional phone demeanour is also paramount. Other standout skills include: basic HTML, professional communication skills, French Language skills, social media experience, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, plus familiarity with both Mac and PC computers.
